Patio is a graphic design studio focused on translating imaginative ideas into meaningful communication. We work across brand identity, marketing systems, and digital experiences for clients in entertainment, consumer goods, emerging technology, and non-profits.
We are looking for a mid-level designer to support the studio during a maternity leave period. This role is best suited for someone who can move fluidly between brands, think conceptually, and execute exciting outputs with craft and independence.
At Patio, we value research, exploration, and developing visual languages that extend beyond trend-driven design. We are looking for someone who is interested in that kind of process and can contribute to it.
You will report directly to the Creative Director and contribute to active client work across multiple projects.
What you’ll do:
- Design across a range of client work, including marketing presentations (aka. pitch decks), visual identity systems and brand extensions, digital assets, vector-based illustration and icon systems.
-
Apply and adapt existing brand guidelines across new formats and contexts without losing integrity.
- Support animation direction by preparing design files, storyboards, and visual references for motion collaborators.
- Contribute to concept development through research, references, and design exploration before execution.
-
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing deadlines with a thoughtful process.
What we’re looking for:
-
3–6 years of experience in graphic design, ideally within an in-house studio or agency environment.
-
Strong typography skills with a clear understanding of hierarchy, systems, and spacing.
- Ability to shift seamlessly between different visual languages and client needs.
- Experience designing pitch decks and presentation systems.
- Comfort working with vector illustration and preparing assets for animation or motion.
- Ability to take direction while also contributing ideas and pushing work forward.
- Highly organized, communicative, and reliable in a remote environment.
- Excellent at managing timelines while prioritizing exploration and iteration.
Working style:
Remote, with availability aligned to either:
- Eastern US time

You will work closely with the Creative Director through regular check-ins, reviews, and collaborative working sessions. We use Google for email and file sharing, Discord for direct communication, and Asana for task management.
Compensation:
Hourly rate: $60–$75/hour (USD), based on experience
This role requires a designer who can operate with a high level of independence and maintain consistency across multiple brands. Compensation reflects this expectation.
Bonus! if you have:
- Experience working within small studios or fast-moving teams
